Leading to the Emancipation Proclamation Hello and thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to review this short story. This paper will be describing what led to the start of the Civil War and what happened as soon as President Abraham Lincoln was elected to office. Then to add in the action the story line will tell about major battles of the war to include the battle of Bull Run, the seven days battle at Richmond, the second battle of Bull Run, and the battle at Antietam. Then comes the Emancipation Proclamation and what it brought about to the United States of America. So please sit back, relax, and enjoy the information this story has to offer. The war started the country was at its own throat the north and the south. The southern states and the northern states were at odd with one another in a multitude of different reasons and beliefs. One of the main causes of the war was slavery. When Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United States of America a lot of the southern states were at an outrage. Mainly because President Abraham Lincoln was fully against slavery. A mere three months after the election of President Abraham Lincoln seven southern states had seceded from the union Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and the greatest state of all Texas.
